How to Keep Skin Hydrated While Flying.

It’s no secret that flying dehydrates. With sensitive skin that is already prone to dryness (plus melasma, sigh), I am always on the lookout for products that give me that extra oomph of moisture and balance to keep my face looking fresh while traveling. Below are the rotating staples in my Cuyana Leather Travel Case.

PS. Don’t forget to drink 8oz of water for every hour of flying!

Clarins Soothing Gentle Foaming Cleaners

My go-to cream based cleanser that contains hydrating shea butter. Rub it in your palms first with water to allow it to foam; this is strong enough to remove makeup, but gentle so as not to strip your skin of any moisture.

SkinMedica AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleaner

I used to live off St. Ives Apricot Scrub as a teen, but my adult skin needs a more gentle exfoliant. Enter SkinMedica. This dermatologist recommended cleanser contains both alpha-hydroxy and beta-hydroxy acids to balance and smooth your skin’s surface without wreaking too much havoc.

Aveeno Ultra-Calming Makeup Removing Wipes

I’ve been using these for at least a decade. They come in handy whenever I’m too lazy to wash my face at night, need to remove extra makeup, am looking for a refresh after getting off a flight, etc. They smell delicious and leave skin feeling clean and soft.

French Girl Rose Lip Polish

One of my favorite products come winter! This moisturizing scrub contains shea butter and coconut oil to soothe along with sugar to gently exfoliate without irritating your lips.

Biossance Squalane + Marine Algae Eye Cream

An anti-aging and hydrating eye cream that will firm fine lines and wrinkles without drying out the delicate skin around your lids.

Evanhealy Wild Carrot Nourishing Eye Balm

My dear friend Jen turned me onto this drugstore eye balm that has become one of my trusted evening products—it’s much too thick to wear during the day. I love how easily it swipes on and provides a thick coat of coverage, ensuring nourished skin in the morning.

Tata Harper Hydrating Floral Essence

So much more than a traditional toner. This mist contains dual-weight hyaluronic acid, white willow bark and gotu kola to hydrate and smooth skins. Plus, a few sprays will help your face soak up your serum even more.

Clarins Double Serum

A.K.A. the holy grail. It’s meant to firm up fine lines and wrinkles, but I think it really shines in boosting my skin’s radiance and evening out texture.

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream

I tried this for a couple of weeks before I came to appreciate this mid-weight moisturizer. The hyaluronic acid does a nice job hydrating and leaves you with a subtle, non-greasy glow.

Tata Harper Crème Riche

My skin barely survived winter before I met Tata Harper! Just as advertised, this facial cream is thick and luxurious, full of hyaluronic acid and avocado peptides. For most it will work best at night, but if your skin is as quenched as mine, you’ll find this to be a soothing daytime moisturizer as well.

Aquaphor Healing Ointment

It’s not fancy, but it works. I always keep a tube of Aquaphor in my carry-on to soothe dry lips, cracked skin or even a cut.

Tata Harper Hydrating Floral Mask

I’m obsessed with this lightweight gel formula, comprised of a 13-flower blend, that really delivers. It balances my skin tone while replenishing moisture. Plus, it can even be used overnight in lieu of your typical evening cream—just make sure to let it absorb into your skin before hitting the sheets.

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask

A mask specifically for my lips feels so indulgent, but I love it in the wintertime especially after I exfoliate with my French Girl Lip Polish. Your mouth will thank you in the morning.
