The Best Travel Gear For Families.

Traveling with children can be daunting to say the least. My theory, however, has always been to expose them early and often so they acclimate to travel. Flying on airplanes, long car rides, sleeping in different environments, trying unfamiliar cuisines, and exploring new places together as a family.

With some notable exceptions, this theory has mostly panned out with our young toddlers. Importantly, having the right gear has been essential to keeping our family’s travel as smooth as possible.

Below is a roundup of some key items that always accompany us.

Amacool Battery Operated Stroller Fan

Beach bound? This battery powered stroller fan has flexible tripod legs to grip on to your stroller, car seat, or bassinet. I love the different speeds, the flexibility of the fan’s head, and the optional LED light.

Babybjorn Travel Crib Light

We have tested a number of travel cribs over the last four years and I can say with confidence this one is our favorite. Lightweight, couldn’t be easier to set up, and comfortable for children.

Babyzen YoYo2 Stroller

The best travel stroller hands-down. While wearing a baby in a carrier, I can fold this stroller with one-hand, which has been key when traveling solo. It’s also petite enough to stow in the overhead compartment. Don’t forget the coordinating Newborn Pack for children under six months old.

Boon Travel Drying Rack

Every time I question whether it’s worth packing this, the answer is invariably yes. This combination bottle brush and drying rack is ideal for cleaning both bottles and breast pump parts when traveling with infants.

Cosco Scenera Next Convertible Car Seat

The colors and patterns leave something to be desired, but this seat is all about function. It is easy to cart through the airport and fits well in any airline seat for the infant and young toddler crowd.

Doona Infant Car Seat + Latch Base

A fantastic option for those who travel frequently with their infants. Note, this car seat is rear-facing only.

Ergobaby Omni 360 Cool Air Baby Carrier

This is the most comfortable carrier I’ve worn for both inward and outward facing. It comes in a variety of aesthetically pleasing colors, is designed to keep both the wearer and baby comfortable and comes with a neat sun-shielding hood for on-the-go naps.

Gathre Micro Mat

Some people love disposable changing pads for travel, but we always take our trusty Gathre, which folds neatly, can be easily wiped down, and comes in a variety of gorgeous colors and patterns.

Nanit Baby Monitor Bundle

My favorite baby monitor of all time travels with us. It features HD video, two-way audio, and sleep tracking.

Oxo Tot 2-in-1 Go Potty

Do you have a potty-training toddler? Nervous about traveling? This is for you. P.S. Don’t forget to buy extra potty liners.

Oxo Tot On-The-Go Wipes Dispenser

Still in diapers? This wipes dispenser makes one-handed diaper changes a breeze plus its built-in strap easily connects to your diaper bag or stroller.

Rohm Portable White Noise Machine

If your child sleeps with a sound machine at home, this is a necessity. The Rohm is easy to operate, comes with a handy lanyard for hanging, and a USB cable for recharging.

SlumberPod

Does your baby share a room with you or an older sibling when you travel? This privacy sleep nook has redefined room-sharing and works small miracles.

Stasher Platinum Silicone Reusable Storage Bags

We adore these reusable storage bags for everything from snacks and toys to toiletries and sunscreen.

Way-B Pico Car Seat

This car seat is a game changer! A simple latch install in less than 30 seconds and it easily folds up to be stowed in the overhead compartment.
